Cartoon exhibit in Tehran condemning desecration of the Quran

The Iranian capital of Tehran is hosting an international exhibition of cartoons and drawings themed on condemning the desecration of the Quran in Europe.

The exhibition, titled 'Clash of Light and Fire', opened on Tuesday and will run until August 5.

Nearly 50 caricatures and posters condemning the sacrilegious acts are displayed in the exhibition.

The exhibited works are made by Iranian, Iraqi, and Yemeni artists in response to the desecration of the Holy Quran in European countries.

This comes as the Swedish authorities granted permission to a man earlier this month to burn a copy of the Quran in front of the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.

The act has triggered a strong wave of protests and condemnation from Muslims around the world.
